Fish Tacos & Ice Carving (A Summer Blog)

It’s hard to believe that Monday was the first day of school, and another year has already begun as far as work is concerned. One thing that is nice about summer for me is the slower pace, and the opportunity to pack up, grab my camera, and travel. I thought I’d use this blog as a recap of the past few months, as I get back into the swing of things.

May: St. George Island

Mid-May the family met up on St. George Island for a long weekend on the beach. St. George has always been a favorite spot, and I wasn’t there too long before grabbing my wife and camera bag for a late night excursion. Less than half a mile down the beach is the lighthouse, and we experimented with long exposure shots, different angles, and the result now hangs on the wall in our home. I can’t be on the coast without seafood, so of course you will see a few snapshots of grill night: Fish Tacos. 

July: Palm Coast/Anniversary Trip

Time flies! Emily and I celebrated our one year anniversary in July, and I surprised her with a trip to Palm Coast, a full week to unwind (before fall hits like a brick wall.) We stumbled upon a jewel on our first dinner date to St. Augustine after poking around the shops and dodging the heat. A friend recommended we stop by Ice Plant, a former ice factory-turned-restaurant, and we were not sad when we did. The atmosphere almost took you back to the roaring twenties, and as soon as their meat & cheese plate arrived at the table, we started planning our return visit. All of the ice they use for drinks and cocktails is uniquely carved, each dish on the chef-driven menu is delicious and unique, and the space just oozes cool. I snapped a few pictures from our table, after a candied pecan and a slice of salami.
